Any device with a card slot and internal memory can run navcore, from both locations.
If the card has a navcore installed and it is inserted in the device, the device will preferably boot from the navcore on the card.
If you remove the card the device boots with the navcore from the internal memory.
The navcore of the internal memory (IM) and the card can be the same or different:
IM: navcore 9541 with Europe map (for example)
Sd: navcore 9702 with Truck map (for example)
In Go devices, you can share the maps of both locations, although it is not recommended to do so because if you cross the map of the internal memory with the navcore of the card, the mapsettings of your map will be created again, losing the configurations that the map has.
Differences of the devices that have both locations:
The Go x20 / x30 / x40 / x50 can use the card as an expansion of the internal memory.
The rest of devices such as One XL, the internal memory and card slot locations do not communicate.
Ttgo.bif will be created in the location where the navcore is started.
The existence of ttgo.bif does not make a location work as a boot, it is interesting to have a copy of ttgo.bif on the card to activate the map because activators like TTActivator and fastactivate read the device data from that file.
For devices with 32mb ram, it is recommended to use navcore 8, although some navcore 9 dsa have worked acceptably, they end up being very slow.

Do not use maps with camper, if you want that type of maps use the truck nav2 maps, the truck and camper nav3 map does not work with those attributes in nav2.
I think your Y3 device's board is similar to this one, in case it helps...
