Go 950 Live caravan/truck Map?
We've just bought a caravan and I'm looking for a van sat nav.
I have an old TomTom Go Live 950 in the drawer which han't been used for years.
Is it possible to update it so I can add a caravan map to it?
Is there a tutorial to explain what's necessary?
I'm reasonably computer literate but have little knowledge of the inner workings of a TOmTom!
Any help gratefully accepted.Auditops Reviewed by Auditops on . Go 950 Live caravan/truck Map? We've just bought a caravan and I'm looking for a van sat nav. I may be wrong (although if I am then please don't tell my wife), but, I'm pretty sure there's no "Camper" map available for these older (NAV2) devices but what you could possibly do is use the latest "Truck" map and set the dimensions to suit your caravan and maybe track down some camper-specific POI's like campsites etc
Start reading here:-
which is the navcore specifically to run the Truck maps on these older devices
which is the latest & best downloading/cracking/activating tool around here
and some more general reading;-
good luck

First:
I tell you that this go950 gps device is magnificent.
Second:
If you use navcore 9702 and the Europe Truck map of the NAV2, you can add the POIs from the NAV3 Europe Camper map to that Truck map. This solution works fine.
In this second option, if the attributes of the truck map are maintained (dimensions and type of vehicle) because an authentic truck map is used.
Third:
If you use the navcore 9541 and you want to install the Europe Camper map of the NAV3 in your gps NAV2, you must delete the files:
-arp_*_2000_10_10_f.dat
-cphonmlh.dat
-cspeech_***.dat
-postal_***.ttd
and you activate it with the meta corresponding to that Camper map.
In this third option, the special attributes (dimensions and type of vehicle) of this type of map are not preserved. And you can't choose the type of vehicle.Last edited by captain haddock; 28th June 2023 at 09:30 PM.

Interesting captain, thanks.
I do see on Peters chart very last line he does say:-
"Map Truck nav3 and Camper for navcore 9. ALG .... etc. Truck & Camper attributes only on nav3" so not sure if this is an alternative solution for Truckers/Campers with a nav2 device?

Indeed, in the table you mention from Mr. Peterhimself, he clarifies it in the last line of the text.
I prefer the "laradiobbs" table because it is more complete. And I also warned a long time ago.
In any case, thank you for the clarification.
What I did not know is that in this forum there is no tutorial on how to transform a NAV3 map into a NAV2 map.

Many thanks for all your interesting replies.
Pleased to see that my GO 950 has a bit more life left in it!
I'll need to do some reading to find out exactly what I need to do to update it...

I missed out on the Go Professional so have decided to revert to Plan A and revamp my 950.
I thought I'd follow Captain Haddocks second suggestion as it looked the most straightforward for a newbie.
So:
Backed up the 950 using file explorer
Deleted everything on the TT.
Downloaded Navcore 9.702.1512362 to TT
Downloaded TTActivator v1.2 to TT
Used Activator to select Truck Map 1105.11772 and downloaded it to TT
Ran Activator tools but got error report when I tied to patch the Navcore - "may already be patched"
When I disconnected the device from its cradle, it booted up to a screen saying "TomTom GO 7000 HGV Navigation", which looked promising, but thats as far as it goes.
Would appreciate any advice as to what I need to do now?
City Navigator Europe NT 2025.10...
I would get a 32GB SD card they are only a few...
