Navcore 9.702 is faulty
Hi Guys,
I would like to share my experience with the 9.702 Navcore. It has an error in it. It can not make the difference between a '7.5T Weak bridge' and '7.5T Except loading'.
What is the difference?
If there is a '7.5T Weak bridge' you can NOT cross it, no exceptions. But if there is a '7.5T Except loading' and you delivering within the restricted are you can enter. The 9.702 Navcore can not make the difference between the two restriction. If you set the destination into a '7.5T Except loading' area and if the vehicle is above 7.5T it will come back with an error 'No truck route possible' which is wrong.Or it will divert you through narrow street if those has no weight limit specified on the map.
I have the screenshot about a genuine Truck 6000 ,and a GO 730 with 9.702 Navcore:
Go730 + Navcore 9.702

If you check the map on an another route, it is clearly marked that the 'Via Molinazzo' is marked pink, as unsuitble on the Go 730 too. But the 34T restriction is 'stronger' and it takes you everywhere, just not through the 34T sign. Clearly shows that the error is in the Navcore 9.702, not in the map.

Thanks for these. Have you tried the very similar but fractionally older 9.701 navcore to see if that is any difference?

Hi Biggerdave,
sorry for opening a new topic.I'm actually never thought that is there one for it, but there is, since 2013!
Still not sorted.
I have installed the 9.701 on it. It is made the same error. No difference between the 9.701 and the 9.702
My suggestion is that, the maps have to be same like on the new Truck 6000 etc models with new Navcore.
I can see the difference on the map between the '7.5T Except loading' and '7.5T Weak bridge'. Even with the wrong Navcore 9.702 it should come out as ' No truck route found', but some occasions(if there is 'Unsuitable roads for trucks') it comes out there is a route.
The Navcore 9.702 treats 'Unsuitable roads for trucks' as 'Unsuitable roads for trucks-EXCEPT LOADING' which is wrong. There is no such thing. But the '7.5T Except loading' became only '7.5T Weak bridge'.
I think TomTom deliberately make it this way.It seems to be okay, and just parts of the functions are wrong, does not come up as fully not working.I believe that, there is a 'patch' process(or something in the background that you guys missed) going on during the activation if you have the original map, and original Navcore.
I think the solution just swap the priority of the two types of restrictions, and it will be okay. I think that is happening when you buy the genuine map for your TomTom.Something hidden in the background swaps (sets) the priority to the right order.
We should see is it the same on an original old genuine Go 7000?
Or, if you guys could look into the code of the Navcore 9.702 and swap the priorities between the two restriction type.

The Truck-Maps aren't the first maps of TomTom with errors. In the recent past: Europe_1GB_South_966_7404, Europe_1GB_South_966_7443, Europe_South_966_7372 and Europe_South_966_7442 have all the same error: missing streets in french towns, complete missing french POIs

I would say that is a completely different error. Missing streets, or POIs are not the same.
The truck map could make the difference between a '7.5T Except loading' or '7.5T Weak Bridge' ,because it is marked on it, but the Navcore misread it. If you have separate layout errors, or not updated places is a complete different thing than having (almost)all of the special vehicle restrictions on the map, but reading it the wrong way.I would say it is easier to fix a wrong code in the Navcore, than update the whole world's missing streets, and POIs.
If you have missing POIs or streets you even can look for them on google, or on OSM.org than enter the location as GPS coordinates.

Whatever your opinions guys, sadly, what you see is what you get from TT unless you buy a new Truck device with (I'm guessing) a different Europe_Truck map
The Europe_Truck map we use is the real deal as far as NAV2 devices are concerned and they are actually bought for a registered/legit NAV2 Truck device but we have always had problems with these 9.7** navcores ever since they came out along with the v901 map
