How to simply add POI with custom icon without losing original splash
Hello,
I tried different things but nothing works as expected, so I prefer to ask the question to identify what I’m doing wrong.
My device :
• tomtom rider 410 Great Rides edition
• I have already the charging station POI installed by tomtom
My goals:
• keeping the original splash (as I really love the one from the Great Rides edition), after patching (I found how to do at this step it by replacing the splash files from the installer folders by the one I found on my tomtom) as after removing the patch (no solution there yet, and I have a black screen instead of the original splash when I remove the patch),
• simply having custom icon for my POI,
• I do NOT need any map or service activation.
My issues:
• If I understand well, if I want to install files to or get files from my tomtom, I need to do the steps « ADB+root » then « install package »: am I correct or could I limit to fewer steps?
• I don’t know how I was able to get the original splash files from my tomtom, but I save them somewhere for backup purposes. How could I reinstall them on my tomtom after removing the patch? Or block the patch from removing them (as I already found how to « install » them when installing the patch)?
• worst issue: if I can install correctly the POI file, my tomtom never uses the custom icons. If my understanding is correct, we should NOT use the POI installation feature of tomtom MyDrive (installation through my tomtom account synced on the rider), but instead copy the ov2 files directly into the folder DATA / TTCONTENT / COMMON / INSTALLED / LOCATIONS, and the custom icons into the subfolders OV2_ICONS / HDPI ı LDPI ı MDPI ı XDPI. But even by doing that, my tomtom doesn’t propose the custom icon, but only the default few icons one of the system. I already tried, after having copied the files, to remove the patch, reset the tomtom, and nothing changed… If I use one of my custom icon to « update » temporary the charing station POI, the tomtom accepts them. So I guess my icons files are correct.
Thank you by advance for any help!WoksDesBois Reviewed by WoksDesBois on . I don’t know why, but after again a new try, this time it worked! What I did (even if it was not the first time I tried it):
1) Ensure no POI were installed through MyDrive (as they had the same name, otherwise I don’t think this is an issue)
2) ADB+Root
3) patch (with my own splash)
4) installed OV2 files and custom icons in the correct folders
5) restarted the rider
6) removing the patch
7) restarted the rider
8) reset of the rider —> then custom icons for POI worked as expected but without any splash
9) repatching again —> I recovered my own splash
But if some of you have a reply for that 2 points, it will be highly appreciated!
