forcing app update
a friend asked me to update his tomtom start 60 ,which he brought on my advice.
i plugged it into tomtom connect ,hoping it would update app to version 20 ,so i could then patch it for truck.
but no joy ,connect says up to date. after updating map .no option to update app version, needed to patch it
the tomtom i tried to patch says
device WN6162GO2881 (0) (20.7)
APP 12.075.3065980.94 (0) (230, 13/7/2018),OS 2663383
Can i force app update
connect shows it fine as tomtom start 60
im at a loss what to do next.

There are versions of Start 60 nav3 and I think this is the case. I checked its serial number or the type of menu comparing with manuals or other device.
serial nav3 for example:
WM > Start 60 NAV3
WN > Start 60 NAV3
WO > Start 60 NAV3

thanks Orni didn't realise start 60 was nav3, presumed they were all nav4
only problem i got now is r-link will not build sd card .tried different sd cards and different copies of r-link . will not format and build sd card. it was a problem before on my start 60 .seems a bit hit or miss. whether it works or not. its not playing at the moment. im having to go through usb adaptor
because no card reader in new pc. that may be the problem .

Format the SD card in the device (TomTom 60)! Then use R-Link Explorer to copy the map files on the card.

Remember that the card must be 32Gb or less. If it is bigger you can make a partition smaller than 32Gb, it will also work.

formatted in slow speed on pc .r-link explorer still cannot build sd card on pc .and does not show when sd card in tomtom
it has to be because I'm using usb adaptor. never this awkward before

yes, it can be because of the adapter, I have never used one.

Put the SD card in TomTom 60 and format it! R-Link Explorer will see the files. You can use, also, Total Commander to see the files from the card. Windows can't see the files.
