Battery issue NAV3 device
My second-hand TomTom 820 (FU) seemed to have a bad battery.
After loading for at least 2 hours, one day later the device (in off mode) said the battery was empty.
So I replaced the battery with a new one and loaded that for more than 2 hours.
One day later it said again “Battery empty”. And did this repeatedly.
Now my question is; Is there something like suicide.dat for these devices?
And if so, how can I install it on a NAV3 device?
If not so, is there a way to better close down the device?
Regards

2 batteries, same problem.
it seems that the problem is hardware and not software.
the device does not charge, due to a defective connector or cable or the board has a short and empty the battery,
regards

@Simba
It does charge. After 2 hours charging it says that it is fully charged.
Even the "black screen" tells me that it is 90 % charged.

Well I shall do a final test today.
If it is empty again tomorrow I will complain by the battery seller.
But I was also searching for a better way to shut the device down.

Normally the rules for charging batteries were set to charge with 10% of the capacity of the battery and that for 12 hours.
If that battery is empty again within 24 hours because that very small current for the standby mode drains it, you can say that the battery has never been fully charged.
The suicide option could also switch off that very small standby stream after which you actually restart from a reset.
The suicide part will somehow have to be added to the existing navcore, but that will still be a problem, I think.
Here is some information about accu's in Dutch

a test to see if the charge is maintained,
She leaves it charging for several hours, when she considers it to be charged, she disconnects it from the tomtom with a tester, measures the charge it has and after several hours I have to check the charge it has.

I believe that if you turn off the gps from the black screen, your gps will not fall sleep.
Process:
- Gps on.
- Press the on / off button while holding down for 20 seconds until you see the black screen.
- Viewing the black screen make a short press on its on / off button.
- The gps turns off and does not stay asleep.
- To turn on the gps you will have to press several seconds (approx. 5 ") your gps turns on making the drums sound.
