Computer doesn't recognise Blue&Me TomTOM 2
Hi, I'm a longtime lurker in the iGO sections of this board who has just bought a car with an integrated Blue&Me TomTOM 2 device. Software and maps are from 2012 (as is the car).
I didn't get a USB cable with the device so I bought one over the internet which was advertised as suitable for charging and updating. The unit charges OK with this cable but when I plug it into my desktop or laptop computer I get an error "USB Device not Recognised". The TomTom device end of the cable has a long plug similar to the ones advertised for the GO series of devices but only the 2 power connectors on one side, and 4 pins at the left-hand end when looking at the device have contacts on the cable plug. Is this normal or have I bought a dud counterfeit cable?
Any advice will be gratefully received thanksk1w1_123 Reviewed by k1w1_123 on . At First please share the first 2 Digits/Symbols of your 12 digits Number on the Bottom from your Device (like TG0000G00000) . I think, if its Blue&Me 2, is a Nav4, and use Tomtom Mydrive Connect to connect your Device to your Computer

Hi @Proukaet,
the number starts with TH, according to the table I found it is a NAV3 device. I have installed Mydrive Connect as suggested on the linked page but it completely ignores the device.
Also, to clarify, the "USB Device not Recognised" error message comes from Windows.

I've had this message come up on my Windows PC and never got to the bottom of it. I I had to assume it was a problem with the hard drive on the Tomtom which was not repairable. Hopefully somebody can help if it is fixable.

I think wrong Cable or wrong USB- Port.....Anytime its help, shutdown the Device, connect to your PC?Mac/Linux-device (we donīt know it), and than start your TT Device....if you connect to I-net, your Computer may load the correct Driver und your Device can connect

More information... I had Mydrive Connect running and the device connected to my computer while doing something else. I bumped the device and it began to connect but failed to complete. I think my problem might be down to the (non genuine) cable not being a good fit in the TomTom.
TomTom of course don't sell cables in New Zealand and will not post to here from the UK so I have bought a GO 1005 (on which the Alfa unit is based) for sale on our local version of eBay, complete with a genuine cable, for about the cost of a new cable. As well as the cable it will be a good test mule for installing new software and updating the maps. I'll report back when it arrives and I have had a chance to do some more tests.

At last.. with the genuine TomTom cable MyDrive Connect sees the device and after multiple attempts including restarts of the device, the pc & the software the device is connected to MyDrive. Now its time to trawl the forum for an updating procedure...
