Tomtom home mapshare updates
Is it possible to still get mapshare updates via tomtom home on older tomtoms (510) as only seem to get quickfix updates on there now? or can we get else where

Mapshare updates are not important.
They are never about new roads or changed roads.
Mostly alone about roadname changes and direction changes on roads.
So, every 3 months a new map via TTActivator is good enough.

As Peter says, it's actually better to just update your map every 3 months as at least the "latest" map will have the "latest" (verified/confirmed/accepted/approved) map changes but do remember that TT can literally take 3-6 months to actually check/verify/incorporate submitted mapshare changes.
TT's mapshare reporting/handling has gone downhill over the last few years so you still need to rely on reading the road as much as relying on your SatNav
