Strange GPS issue on Tom Tom GO 520
Hi guys, hope someone can help.
I have a Tom Tom GO 520 and have a strange issue. If the device is turned off (either by the button or by auto shutdown) it will not receive a GPS signal when turned back on. If I wait an hour or two and then turn it back on it will connect. If I use the reset button a couple of times it will connect.
Its a real pain if I stop at the services, come back to find the satnav has auto shut down and I can't get a GPS signal anymore.
Any idea what causes this?
Heres the details of my device:

Had a look, don’t think it’s related. I get a GPS connection when I first turn the device on, but it’s when the device turns off (auto shutdown, battery runs out etc) I can't get a GPS connection immediately after reboot. Very problematic when I am mid journey. I have had this problem for 3-4 years now so I don't think its related to the issue in this thread (just getting round to investigating it now)
One thought though: when I go to settings and go to set the time the clock doesn't sync when I press the "sync" button, I don't know if that has anything to do with anything?

TomTom specifically released a new navcore back in December 2018 to address problems with getting a satfix & the system clock due to the week number rollover in April 2019...so yes, they are related. You might have another underlying issue but you should still start with the navcore update.
Do a full backup of your device > download new navcore > extract new navcore to your device (overwriting everything it ask about) > re-patch it with FA > disconnect & testLast edited by fredderf; 14th November 2020 at 01:17 AM.

I think a flash update of the gps chip is also necessary.
Remember, it could be quite possible the 9.541 will slow down the device.
