The answer, you're faster.
We don't just think that, we use it successful on various devices - no satellite findig problems when starting from standby. Do it and be satisfied...
Try this NC 9.510, it's running on my ONE3rd (with additional WNRO-fix for his GL1 chip) without problems, and you are not dependent on Carminat-maps to have lane assist, real view and IQ-routes with a NC8 - you can use any unlockable high-level-map and Carminat too. No bootloader file "system" (possibly unsuitable), no voice files (folder "voices" and "LoquendoTTS") included, take them from your current NC:

When LoquendoTTS is possible I think that is a big advantage.
I prefer a computer voice over the normally available voices, but that is a choice that you should try and can be of personal preference.
All storage problems due to a shortage of memory are solved by using SDHC cards.
Almost all maps are getting bigger in bytes.
In addition, if you don't like the bootloader you can always go back to any other.
The biggest problem with those much older devices is whether the navcore wants to run nice and fast and whether there is enough free memory left over.
Then the choice will have to be made, or slightly slower with a map and navcore with more options or faster with less.
It is best to spend 3 months of testing on it

Hello!
Thank you very much everyone for all your good advice, it's really great to have responsive people like you!
Here in France, they all say that these old GPS are obsolete and must be thrown away ...
Well, I can tell you that it works really well now, having updated the Sirf Star 3 chipset to GSW3.2.5 version.
Thank you very much to Alfred_ML for the direct links, I got the Navcore 9.510 and it works perfectly with a recent France map.
Really a big big thank you to everyone, it's really nice to have helped me.
Regards from France.
Fred

As usual, my best advise now is; NOW do a full Windows backup of everything (not the crappy TTHome backup!)

Thanks biggerdave.
When you say "do a full backup", do you mean a backup of the new SD card? Like a "ghost" perhaps?Last edited by capitainealbato; 14th December 2019 at 02:39 AM.

Just copy/paste the entire SD card to your PC somewhere safe
