if after doing what @jpgblue indicates it doesn't work,
check volts of the photo, with battery tester disconnected and the charger connected, the value indicated + 3.20 v must be 0
press the power button and at that point the value must be equal to or approximately 3.20 v
If your eMMC is 4GB it will be a little bigger than the photo.

What a shame that even their own forum says "there is not much we can recommend. Suggest you contact customer service"!
At least J-J has given you the contact details.

Hahahahahahaha!
Thanks jpgblue. But the damned thing would not power on no matter what I try - hence not detected by the MDC or even the computer. :-(You're beautiful. Yes - you reading this! :-)

Well, that is a shame. I have emailed support now. Not expecting much out of it, though :-/
Thanks, Simba. I will try that as well. Are we checking if the eMMC is fried? What if it is? My soldering skills are nothing to write home about, truthfully! You're beautiful. Yes - you reading this! :-)

As others have suggested, it just has to be a blown component. On our older devices (and most probably yours too), there's a small power ic which acts as a surge protector and has regularly been know to blow if the device sees 12v by mistake, faulty cable etc
I seem to remember Nick (the Maverick) having some details/pics etc of these (although I can't find anything around here) so maybe worth pm'ing him?
