I don't know exactly what the 720 can do.
If that device can play music wireless over your car radio, there must be a small FM transmitter in it.
This is completely separate from the Bluetooth which in principle is also a very small transmitter but it can work duplex, that is, send but also receive and that is exactly what you need with your phone.
The FM transmitter is one-way traffic. simplex.
Your RDS-TMC is just as much a receiver as your radio, simplex and only receives information, the place where you are at that moment is then calculated by your navigation and compared with that information from the RDS-TMC.
But what is most interesting now is the Bluetooth.
You can't feel it, you can't smell it, just measure it.
I can't measure it either because my frequency counter does not go higher than 2.8 GHz, but I can hear whether my Rider v2 works by pairing it with a pair of Bluetooth earphones or headphones.
Isn't there a menu icon where you can turn Bluetooth on or off?
On my GO 950 I have that choice of Bluetooth preferences and then the choice of on or off, hands-free on or connect to Bluetooth device.
As soon as I click on, I am connected to my smartphone.
On the GO 950 I use 9,541 but is it possible that your Navcore does not support Bluetooth?Last edited by pe1agp; 6th September 2019 at 04:06 AM.

Maybe try (temporarely) navcore 9.702
Then you have in menu change preferences 5 of 7 a button "Bluetooth preferences.
When you open this there is another button "Connect to Bleutooth device"
Then tho GO720 start searching for bluetooth devices and normally wil find your phone (if bluetooth on the phone is turned on).
In my case the GO720 got connected with my phone after enter the given password.

My Tomtom has all the Bluetooth buttons to have it On or Off and Preferences. I've updated it to Nav 9.541 but it still looks for phones but comes back saying "No Phones Found" despite my phone sitting next to the Tomtom with Bluetooth switched to on.

But we still don't know if it's possible to connect with another device, your phone as wel your navigator.
Only than we'll know if both Bluetooth are OK, or at least one.
you don't have another device, earplugs or a bluetooth headset ?
Meten is weten, zoals wij dat hier wel eens zeggen en gissen is missen.
Dat laat zich natuurlijk moeilijk vertalen, als je maar de strekking van het verhaal begrijpt.
Measuring is knowing, as we sometimes say here and guessing is missing.
That is of course difficult to translate, as long as you understand the meaning of the story

I borrowed a friends Tomtom Go 730 which is similar to my Go 720 and it managed to locate and store my phone details successfully.
I looked at the files on his 730 on my PC and he doesn't have a Config file with the data advised above.
I'm going to look at all the files on his 730 and compare it with the files on my 720 and see if I can spot any obvious differences.
I appreciate your help and I do understand the meaning of what you are saying above.
Thanks

I hope you'll find at least something, one thing is sure, it's not your phone
Keep us informed, please.

Hello! Some time ago, they have brought me a go730 with problem in bluetooth connection, just as in this case I could not find devices. I have changed the navcore from zero. but equal. I opened the device, and next to the battery I saw a broken component, I suppose when changing the battery, they had broken this component that I no longer remember what it was. Everything else except bluetooth, working fine. I don't know, but it could be a hardware problem

Yeh I'm beginning to believe it's a hardware problem as I've tried many variations and nothing seems to work. Couldn't see anything obvious with the components near the battery that could be broken. I've given up.
