GO 730 low volume problem
Hi,
I bought a used GO 730 (J4) and updated the official 9.541 GO Navcore and v1030 "almost official" maps into it. No problems with that, and it has the SirfStar3 chip so shouldn't have WNRO issues either.
However, I can't get enough volume out from the speaker. I have set the volume to 100% and the voice guidance is still much quieter than in my XXL with 70% volume setting. Can't hear it clearly enough while driving in highway. I also tried the "Link volume to noise level" option, but it only seemed to turn the volume further down at lower noise instead of turning it up as needed, so I disabled it.
Is there any easy fix for this, like setting for the maximum volume gain in some config file?tohis Reviewed by tohis on . First - perform full reset ("long" press on "off", then - long "on") - so TT would start with "drums" (maybe reset with paper-clip will be needed).
If "drums" will sound too quite - it'll show your speaker maybe faulty.

Thanks for the answer. The "drums" are indeed quieter in the GO 730.
I took the case open, and the speaker has 4 ohm printed in it, however my multimeter read 20 ohms when I measured it. Then I removed the speaker from the case and measured it again, this time about 5 ohms, and the reading varies a bit when I press the wire solder joints by my finger. Rusigor, you guessed right - there is bad contact in speaker wires.
Now I will try to resolder the wires. If it doesn't help, there are similar speakers on eBay for few dollars. I also have an older ONE XL which I'm about to abandon because of signal problems with GL1 chip, so I have a spare speaker available there.

yep, just search for speaker by it's model (read on it). I'm not sure the one from ONE XL will fit - you must disassemble it and compare. If looks identically - must fit.

Update: I soldered the speaker wire, but it didn't help after all. I also tried the speaker from One XL but still low volume, so the problem is elsewhere.
I read somewhere that some Navcores in the past have had issues with low volume, so I decided to try the official 9.702 Truck Navcore, and this time the voice was louder! I still have to keep the volume in 100% but it's now loud enough to be heard clearly in highway.
It's really weird how this issue can affect some models and not the others, even with exactly same Navcore...
