Mazda NVA-SD8110 TomTom
Hello,
Alternative FastActivate 7.1 looks to be a very useful tool - thanks to all those who have made this possible. I have done a lot of reading here but still have some queries:
Can someone please confirm if it is possible to update the map on the SD Card of the Mazda NVA-SD8110 in-car unit?
The original map, now rather old, is of Europe - I am looking to update to either Europe or to the smaller UK & ROI. I do not see either a ttgo.bif or ttNavigator.bf file on the SD Card. I don't think the latest Europe maps would fit on the original 4GB Card?
Thanks for any assistance.slowphox Reviewed by slowphox on . I realy don't know anything about Mazda, but sure you're right Europe_1025_9386 won't fit on a 4GB SD card
The size is exactly 4.177.907.712 byte, but without the Cspeech files is the size 3.961.315.328.
Option #9 within A_F_Activate ?

Thanks to all!
@pe1agp. Yes, the Europe_1025.9386 map is around 3.9GB however the United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_1025.9432 map is only 221MB (with meta code available) and I have tried working with this.
A_F_Activate option #9 returns no message (confirmatory or error) after entering the correct ID as requested. Many of the other A_F_Activate options seem to be working, an exception being 'Patching the Navcore' which cannot find ttgo.bif or ttNavigator.bif (I only see a tthome.bif file in the root of the card - see below). I tried creating a ttgo.bif file, containing the correct information, using Notepad but this was still not recognised. Inserting the card into the unit returns the message "This map cannot be used with this unit". I do see other UK & Ireland maps but I do not know what the differences are apart from possibly the dates.
The SD Card was fully updated using TTHome and backed up prior to experimentation.
@Jeanet. The original contents of the root of the SD Card are as below:
(The maps and navcore appear to be buried in the 'Backup' folder in a sub-folder 'internal memory').

@simba. Thanks for the (unwelcome) confirmation! Most disappointing to learn this.Last edited by slowphox; 28th April 2019 at 11:39 PM.

A few questions remain which I am sure the experts here can easily resolve!
It seems that some car companies, e.g. Mazda have blocked patching presumably to boost business. I wonder why TomTom themselves have not done something similar in regard to their own units to similarly boost their income? (The later Mazda NB1 units appear to be patchable whereas the earlier NVA-SD8110 are not).
I have no detail regarding the copyright protection system used in the NVA-SD8110 unit but assumed it might involve the Device ID thus making the card tied to a particular unit? However, I see Mazda NVA-SD8110 SD Cards for sale on Ebay which presumably work in any unit. If this is the case then all that would be required is the image of a card containing the desired latest map?
Can anyone please explain?

Sadly that's exactly what they've done by introducing NAV3 & beyond devices that use MyDrive to connect with the TT servers rather than our older NAV2's that use TTHome and are quite easily crackable/patchable (and are stopping all support for these older NAV2's too)

Thanks biggerdave, I am slowly learning about the TomTom range of units!
Does anyone know if an NVA-SD8110 SD Card is tied to a particular unit (possibly via the Device ID or through the TT servers), or if a valid card will operate in any unit? Once the card is in the unit presumably it can't 'call home' for authentication.

Most likely - map activated to CID (*.mct file) - hence will work in any NVA-SD8110 unit.
If so see solution for same issue with Renault Carminat Live -
