All available maps downloaded 1015
I see from the Maps section that all the available maps were downloaded within 48 hours, which is, once again, pretty good going .... however .....
as the threadfinder 2010/11 shows ..
only about one quarter (131 out of 366 ) were useable as metas became available.
Now I applaud the effort to obtain all 273 maps so quickly, but if only 25% are useable (70 ish ???) is that effort worthwhile ??
It's a lot of effort/time/resources downloading the maps, then making them available on file sharing sites in the numerous small chunks needed, and then ensuring the links stay accurate. Users on the site then download them and sit waiting for a meta that might never come.
Is it time to consider only downloading/making available .. however you wish to describe it.... only those maps for which it is known that the meta will become available ?? My guess is that there are exceedingly few "new" suppliers of metas, and that "those who know", know exactly which metas will appear.
With thanks to those who download the maps and make them available .. and even more thanks to those who provide the metas,
Regards

Like insurance. Or viagra LOL
Better to have and not need than need and not have
Better to be safe than sorryOne day, someone might make things work perfectly before release. Sadly not in my or your lifetime. At least by finding problems and sorting them, we are still alive.

I agree with the other responders, some of us "friends" know which maps WE will get metas for (although the duration of some of our subscriptions is often misleading) but a) there are always a few surprises from newbies willing to share metas we weren't expecting and b) it could be tiresome for our uploaders to sit around waiting for metas to be posted and THEN having to "break-in" to the servers to grab a particular map & then upload it for us.
Can you imaging the cries of "I see the meta but WTF is the map?" from many??!!
Furthermore, remember that even some of the non-meta'd maps can be used by tweaking as per

There are many efforts that are not worth it, but sometimes, something that seems not to be served becomes essential.
I also thought about uploading only what has obtained code, but it is common for map codes to come out without waiting for them.
It is better to have the map without a code, than the code without a map.
The download lists are for all maps, making the selection can be more difficult, than downloading all, with all the maps there is less possibility of error.
