Go720 hangs on splash
I have a Go720 of a friend asking me to do an update.
Did not do a backup.....
I tried several navcores.
8.842 / 9.051 / 9.510
Also the original which is given by TomTom Home.
All the same result. It hangs on splash screen.
It only reacts on reset button. After reset it is available on the PC again.
Tried Low Level format with HDDGURU. Not possible due to Unable to lock the TomTom.

It sounds very much like you have a corrupted map. Easiest solution is to copy all the files onto a temp directory on your pc. Then delete all the files on the TT. Load them all back onto the TT except the map.
Then reboot the TT. See at what point it hangs then. If it says no map detected, then load the relevant one. Probably better not to use the original one, as that is likely to be the problem, download another from here instead.
Run fastactivate then, reboot TT from cold.
Hope that works, has done in the past with my GO720. It is usually one or most of the large two files on the map or others available with the problemOne day, someone might make things work perfectly before release. Sadly not in my or your lifetime. At least by finding problems and sorting them, we are still alive.

As the Maverick says, delete (after backup) all LOOSE FILES (not folders) then either reinstal them from your backup or let TTHome update your navcore/application/software (incrementally)

All these navcores has been tested, with and without map.

I don't have a backup..... Very stupid !!!
TThome has same result.
Reset and holding "on" gives below. Looks fine to me.

There is another option: Remove everything from the internal memory and format the memory.
After that, do not load anything into the internal memory. Use the SD-card. On this SD card, download the software 9.510 and start up your TomTom.
Perhaps the problem is in the internal memory.

In the past this happens often with a new map or navcore. Most of the time deleting the (old) mapsettings.cfg file in the map folder solved the problem. Has something to do with not being compatible of that file with the map or navcore.

First a small thanks for all the messages and help !!
@duur1duur
tried with and without maps. Same result.
Checked the maps I have. No mapsettings.cfg in the file, as I use new maps.
@yuriyggg
#7 I have done it the way you mention.
Still no luck.
