Sat-Nav driving safety
Some of you may have seen or read about the tragic fatalities in Florida over Easter. Just a reminder that even if the sat-nav says make a U-turn, always look with your own eyes to see if it is safe to do so, especially overseas where traffic is reversed. Twilight is always difficult. These are amazing devices but the driver needs to pay attention. Take care.

I certainly agree with you that if you are going to drive with a blindfold and you only listen to your navigator, you are certainly doing something wrong.
While I had no problem with driving in England, it happened to me when I drove back from a parking lot, I had a very short tendency to drive on the left side, just because I was abroad, Florida indeed, but that was far before we had a navigator and visited England several times short before.

Why does a car have mirrors? Why should a driver use own brain? That's a matter of course, but if you're an idiot, doesn't help you any warning, that the coffee could be hot...
Edit: There is an option in the TT-menu to "point out, if use the wrong side of the road", but this warning can be to late. Only the driver can ensure safety. No navigation system and also not the mother-in-law in the passenger seat.

Nothing against mothers-in-law, but sometimes they are really unhelpful. Like a TomTom

Driving in my experience should be in a percentage format of say 20% TomTom, 60% your eyes 10% your hearing and the remaining 10% possible input from another source (Passenger) and as no longer have a mother in law as she is 'back seat' driving on the upper 'Of Planet Roads' where Tom Tom is not found!
A number of times the 20% TomTom has tried to direct me to use a very narrow road or even tracks when the 60% of my eyes told my brain 'No Way!' so I carried on for a not very long distance and then after TomTom re-programmed the route got told to 'Turn right in 300 meters' which happened to be another road which then passed the track it wanted me to use in the first place!
The directions provided are in the main OK but you still need to have your wits about you at all times!
Even when using different 'Route Planning Options' in TomTom can cause nightmares as I found to my horror!
