That's strange because I have it on my Go 940 Live...my navcore is the official 9.510 but that shouldn't make any difference?

Thank you, @nyky. You are very kind. I will perform these steps as an additional measure.
What I ideally wanted was that regardless of the presence or absence of a speed cam in the vicinity, I should be reminded if I have exceeded the posted speed limit. Now I know that there is a visual cue (the speed bottom left corner turns red) but one is unlikely to notice that while driving. An audible warning would be ideal.
The steps you have outlined would help me stay in control near the speedcams I presume. However, I would like to remain under the posted limits even in the absence of a speedcam as well.
And I have confirmed that such a setting for an audible warning is absent in my NC 9.510.
@nyky, am I to assume that what you have outlined is the only option available to me since NC 9.510 does not have the feature that I need?
Thank you for your patience in this :-)You're beautiful. Yes - you reading this! :-)

Thanks, @fredderf. I am sorry I did not see your very helpful post. My bad. It is indeed strange - no such option exists on my device...
Yes, indeed - it is a GJ. So am I out of luck? What is a low-menue device? Thanks. You're beautiful. Yes - you reading this! :-)

There is a way to add missing menue-options to these devices (a folder "SdkRegistry" with some *.bmp and a tomtom.mnu).
A "Low-menue"-device? Look on your TomTom and then on the picture in #11...
P.S: Please don't make full-quotings for a direct answer. I know my answer, no reason to repeat this all. There is a direct-answer-window under the last posting...

Yes, this is the way to add missing menu-options to such devices. Maybe you need some *.bmp-files too. Good luck!

Indeed, looks like I might need some new bmp files. Trouble is, a whole bunch of new menu items have appeared but the 'Safety Preferences' menu item has not. I mean, before I did this, there was atleast a menu item that said - "safety alerts enabled/disabled' - it was sort of a toggle switch. But now that seems to be gone, too. :-(
Help? You're beautiful. Yes - you reading this! :-)

So I have been playing with the .mnu file and using the TASK_SET_SAFETY_SPEED| is not bringing the 'safety preferences' menu to my TomTom. What could I do to bring the Safety Preferences?

Navcore 9.510 have an extra menu with the options more or less menu's
But than you've to set via the DSA Skin Cooser to opion 25, the emulation of X30
Get to the last page of the menu's to see the DSA skin chooser.
It work that way with my GO 910, this is a 64mb device and running in the 25 mode
On my ON XL I don't have that extra menu more or less menu's, this device is a 32mb device and running in mode 35
But stil I've the option mention by fredderf
Try to switch to another mode, please.
