You need both the tttgo.bif file in both the unit and on the SD card, then it will work

Nope. The Go510 doesn't has a internal memory! Only extern memory-card.
@hooch1975
If your device has the origin Bootloader 4.860, your device need a bootloader-update to use the new 4GB-SDHC-Card.
Use a clean SD-card (16MB - max 2GB) - not SDHC - and put the bootloaderfile "system" of the Bootloader 5.5229 or 5.5242 to this SD-Card. You can find a bootloader-collection here: . Be careful and take no other as the recommended BL (5.5229 or 5.5242) of this collection!
Then start your Go510 with this card and wait the bootloader-update-procedure. If complete, you can use your 4 GB-SDHC-Card

Did you try reset device? Plug-in and do any reset.
PS why suggest to play with bootloader at first? Just let TTHome update the navcore - if newer bootloader needed it will come with an update.

Good point. If you're NOT wanting to use an SDHC card then quite rightly, stick with whatever TTHome installs for you when it updates your navcore to the current/correct 7.903 (although that will reduce your map version options with that navcore)
