Hello poshea,
I have not used TMC mctx.dat if you have modified the file, upload it and I could start to see if it works.
Regards.

Drum roll please.................IT WORKS!!!
simba- you are a legend! Thank you for your help.
I used the first file. Didn't need to start again with new SDCARD. Just put the ttsystem file on the root of my current SDCARD, the car prompts to update from 10.854 to 10.854... Then copies new Navcore to internal memory. When finished, the tomtom software restarts...when my maps came up I had a working traffic bar. I put in a trial route and it instantly showed traffic information. I'm very excited!

hi,
first of all - this is my first post on this forum so I say hello to everyone (thanks poshea for link).
According to mctx.dat file - precisely keys are NOT stored in mctx.dat file - this file is something like service enabler, tomtom have keys for almost all world tmc service providers. Service is not enabled in case that TT push users to buy TT Live services not using TMC services. Actually I'm working on creating mctx.dat records for any available provider - if anyone could help would be nice (especially if you can trace / debug processes via gdb or ida)
mctx.dat is few flavours most popular:
TX01 - (first 4 bytes are TX01 string) - explained in rdstmcserver from navcore as normal encrypted services file, after 4 bytes header there are 8-byte records for services that should be enabled for user, each record is responsible for one service provider, in some cases (i.e. SUNA one service provider have more that one 8-byte records, it may be connected with fact that SUNA uses many tmc location tables (same service id) for Australia teritories (Northern - LTN = 60, Western = 58). TX01 files are commonly used in TomTom Go series. Each record is scrambbled separatly.
TX02 - (first 4 bytes are TX02 string) - "Marigot format" similar to normal but possibly with 5 or 10-byte record. TX02 is used in in-dash devices.
Funny thing is that navcores for indash and go devices read both formats without problems.

Just an update that after driving for the last few days, traffic is working perfectly. I found one strange anomaly where I had chosen to avoid tolls, but when the tomtom rerouted due to traffic conditions, it routed me via tolls.
I've since read that this is a known bug. If you have the tomtom set to 'ask what to do' if tolls on your route - if you choose avoid tolls but then it reroutes due to traffic - it will then ignore your request to avoid tolls. The fix is to choose 'always avoid tolls'. When this is selected it will continue to avoid tolls, even when re-routing due to traffic.
hey smiodus. welcome to metanmedia! I can see how the decryption keys are likely stored in the tmccodes.dat in the maps folder and the mctx.dat is more of a 'tmc service enabler/dis-abler' on different navcores for various regions. I can see how it would be a good project to try and come up with a mctx.dat file that is 'unlocked/enabled' for all regions worldwide. I wish you best of luck with it!

Thanks Alfred i totally missed that. Also i did that but i'm not sure if it worked.
When does it show traffic?
Is the traffic bar always there?
Put 1 onto root of mazda SD card, inserted and installed onto internal memory. Nav rebooted and i don't see a traffic bar? Would this not show up due to being 7pm at night?
tried Naving to work and it showed normal screen like before not traffic. In services i have it set to a tmc FM station for Brisbane (i actually tried both)
put number 2 ttsystem on plain SD card inserted and it installed on the NB1 dash unit but still the same as before?
Do i need to do a retore factory reset in the menu? Not sure what i am doing wrong?

The traffic sidebar is only visible when there is a signal for traffic. The sidebar drops off from time to time for me in Melbourne, not sure why. Also no sidebar or traffic when in Bendigo today which is now supported with suna. Not sure why.
