Thanks to Loopy for helping me out - I will test the Android setup over the next few days and let everyone know how it goes.

Can you please tells us how exactly you updated the tlv file? There is not such thing in Greatnloopy's instructions.

I have exactly the same problem. With IQ routes disabled everything works great, if I enable IQ routes then it freezes over the route calculation and reboots.

    Hi everybody

So, I've tried Greatnloopy's method which did perfect work for me (with Europe 945.6174 map and Simba patch with navcore 10.854) I follow1:1 his instruction but instead to delete the, I kept all the original language folders. After that, everything is going ok, also with the fonction IQ routes (no freezes).

I hope it can help some people.

    Regards

A friend of mine updated the maps on his CX5 legitimately through Home. He now has the US_Canada 945 maps. Is it possible to have him backup his SD card and then copy the map files to my SD card? I'd follow greatnloopy's instructions but just instead of downloading the Android maps I'd use my friends.

No problem, if you'll manage to extract meta.txt from your friend's map (if such don't exist on forum), and then create meta.dct file for your device.

Opened it with notepad++ (maybe other text editor can be used), and replaced the 3digit number which represents the map version, with the version of the map that I used. I cannot be more specific since I don't have the SD card with me now, but it should be quite clear once the file is opened. It's not a "clear text" file, but the 3 digits are visible.

Thanks for your reply. I tried that but it doesn't work. I think it has to do with the map version, after trying a lot of 945 maps I finally made the 950.6492 to work smoothly with no issues (and the tlv file still says 945 inside!).

Wait, so does it work or not?

Anyhow, I checked the tlv file and in there is also the name of the .meta file which should also be updated accordingly.

Any 945 map I tried (Android maps found in this forum) do not work for me regardless if I make any changes to the tlv file: when IQ routes is activated then it freezes and reboots. Without IQ routes seems to be working OK.

So I tried the 950.6492 and it works (again regardless if I make any changes to the tlv file). IQ routes initially calculate strange routes but after 2-3 min recalculate and propose the correct ones (this issue has been reported in the past in this thread too). No freezes so far, will keep testing and post if I have any updates.

Edit: I am talking about USA_Canada maps.

    hi rusigor,

i am trying to be sure i understand your post. what do you mean by extract meta.txt and create meta.dct? can i just follow greatnloopy's instructions except for the downloading android maps part? i looked at my friend's sd card this weekend and took a backup of it. i also made a backup of my sd card. basically i was going to try the following. please advise if i have the steps wrong. i underlined the changes i made to greatnloopy's steps to suit my situation:

Part 1: Acquire all necessary files and tools
Copy SD card data from my friend's updated NB1.
Download simba's patched 10.854 navcore for the NB1 (same version as the newest official TomTom navcore)
    Download FastActivate
If you don't have one already download a more robust text editor like Notepad++

Part 2: Making ttgo.bif for FastActivate
Place your NB1 SD card in your PC's card reader and using Windows Explorer make a backup of all the contents on your card.
Open TomTom Home 2 and wait for it to detect your your "Device"
At the top of TomTom Home 2 click "Device" --> "Device Information"
At the bottom of the small window that opens click "Copy to Clipboard".
Paste the contents of the clipboard into a text editor. (I used Notepad++ as it formatted the text in a more readable way)
Delete all lines of text before "[TomTomGo]"
Delete all lines of text after the line that starts with "BackupFSVersion="
Remove all the spaces in at the beginning of each line of the remaining information. (I'm not sure if this step is actually necessary but it doesn't hurt to do it anyway)
Save the file as "ttgo.bif" to the root of your NB1 SD Card.

Part 3: Moving your new maps
Copy and paste the contents of the "USA_Canada" folder from my friend's updated NB1 to the "USA_Canada" folder on my SD card

    Part 4: Patching the maps
Unrar the FastActivate files to the root of the NB1 SD Card
    Run FastActivate as an administrator
Click option 2 "Patch Maps, Voices, Speed Cams and Fuel Prices"
When it's done FastActivate should show you a list of new license files ".dct" that it created for each category.
    Exit FastActivate
Delete the FastActivate files from your NB1 SD Card if you want.

    Final Part:
Unzip the contents of the simba's patch navcore (as of this post 10.854) to the root of the NB1 SD Card. Overwrite any files it ask you about. There should be a file "ttsystem" at the root level of the card, and a folder "TomTom-Cfg" with a single file "release.nfo" inside.
Eject the NB1 SD Card from your PC and put it in the car.
Turn on your cars accessories and wait a few seconds, when you push your "NAV" button the screen should show you the option of upgrading your system to 10.854 with a Red X (No) and a Green Checkmark (Yes) at the bottom and a countdown timer.
If you don't choose an option after 60 seconds the system will automatically upgrade itself.
Once the system is done upgrading it automatically boot itself (the system is android based the the little boot animation may look familiar)
Once the system has finished booting you should see your current location on the map. (Success!!!)
Navigate the TomTom menus (I do not remember exactly since I am not looking at it right now) to check your current map version just to be sure.
