Phasing out of global 2G networks
I know that all that TomTom PND's (and likely most others too) that rely on the in-built sim card for their Live Services run on 2G and in many countries the 2G network has already been closed which has annoyed TT customers who expected "Lifetime Traffic" etc from their devices.
Here is what appears to be the latest situation I could find for those either thinking about buying one of their "Live" devices or already own one:-
