New Windows 10 version??
On my Windows 10 Pro 2018 desktop PC I've just received a new "notification":-
Restart to stay up to date
Your version of Windows 10 is nearing the end of service. Restart and install the most recent version of Windows.
What is it, do I want, do I need it, do I have to have it, will it muck up all my personalised settings/programs?????
Sounds a bit like they're following TomTom by changing things because they've nothing better to do during lock-down to me! I know; sarcastic as ever

You can trust it.
Microsoft provides a full update every half year.
You have probably version 1803 (2018 month 3) that will go out of service.
Newer versions are 1809, 1903, 1909 and now 2004.
I think you missed already three updates.
The update will not mesh up your personalised settings/programs
It will take a long time and a hugh download.
I advice you to do it.
regards
Peter

Thanks Peter, I'm sure there's nothing to worry about & I've probably automatically let it update before without thinking about it but I guess I just have too much "worry time"at the moment so will go with it when I can leave it running unattended for a few hours if that's the sort of time frame involved.
thanks again

All done with no dramas (about 1-1.5 hrs total) but now just need to try to get my more subdued wallpaper colour/less-brightness back again. Oh well, another job for the morning I guess!!

If you want full control over windows updates then try StopUpdates10, read the info on the information page first before deciding if it's for you.
My main machine runs LTSC so no problem with there, my spare machine runs win 10 pro and I have been using stopupdates for a long time now with no problems.
