Create micro SD card for Garmin 3590
Hello all,
I am new to this forum and considered to be at a ground level when it comes to interfere to hardware level of Garmin device.
I have a Garmin Nuvi model 3590 LMT with pre-loaded with North America map. I am living in Vietnam and would like to use this device here. What I want to do is using the Micro SD card for installing Vietnam map. Browsing the forum, I have found 2 maps that can be used.
- South East Asis Map NT 2018.40, posted by active member Garmin_Nuvi, which can be referred by the below link.
I have downloaded files to my computer.
- 2 Garmin Vietnam Map 3.01.1016 which was shared by FireFox58 and can be found by the below link
Will anyone please shred a light on
- Which one of the above 2 maps would be better to use or if you have other recommendation, please share it with me
- Show and guide me to create a Micro SD card using the above resource to use on my Garmin machine?
Thanks and much appreciate your support/help on this request.

Hello arvik67 and Garmin_Nuvi,
The maps work like a charm on my SD card, actually I placed 2 img files in the MAP folder and the device recognize both of them. This means, I can load other country map to my machine and select them when I dive in those countries. Pretty neat!
Thanks again and you all have a nice day!

SD Card setup with multiple countries
Hello,
Technically (proved), we can save countries img into SD card under Map folder to use on a Garmin device. The City Navigator package from Garmin contains several folder such as JCV, SID, SQLite, POI, ect. stored in the Garmin folder on the SD card.
My question here is assume that I have Thailand and the UK maps stored in the Map folders, will combining JCV, SID, POI, SQLite from individual folder of the City Navigator package for each country into SD Garmin/JCV, SID, POI, SQElite folders make the Gamin function correctly? What I mean here is if I dive in the UK, the device will use UK's JCV, SID, etc files and when I am in Thailand, it will be using the Thai's JCV, SID, POI, etc files.
If the above don't work, what would be your suggestion beside setup (delete, copy and paste) the SD card to the country that I am going to visit prior to use the Garmin device there
Appreciate your hints on the above
Best regars

As long as the map .img have unique names in the map folder they will work all the files can go in their respective folders as they have different names already.
As I said in my original reply the SQLite files work better if they are put in the SQLite folder on the device .system/SQLite/xxxxx.dbLast edited by biggerdave; 21st November 2019 at 03:26 PM. Reason: tidy up
