Hi Garmin_Nuvi. Back from holidays and wanted to say thanks again for your assistance in providing the custom map file. We visited two other Balkan countries that were not in our original travel plan and I was delighted that the map covered those countries also.

Hi @Garmin-Nuvi, I feel like this tutorial is a bit outdated for the time now and probably not descriptive enough with a few of the other files that can be added now (Parkopedia, 4Square, DEMs etc.). I don't even understand the current material for putting files like G2S,ASR and SQLite onto my Garmin Drive devices as they all reference internal GPS memory and it doesn't feel safe putting those files onto an SD card without prior verification that it works. Summing the above, this tutorial is not descriptive enough and could use a vicarious update that makes this information more accessible. I wonder who else on this forum also has the same opinion as me with this or that I'm not receiving enough information. Feel free to DM or respond.

I'm not any part of the administration of this forum just another member like yourself,I agree the original guide could do with updating.
IMO The ever increasing models of GPS's and their features grows monthly,a guide to cover the entire range would be cumbersome and most probably more confusing for a person just wanting to go to another country with their 10 year old nuvi with basic functions and limited .img size capabilities as the OP.
The later models are in themselves packed with more features as you mention,my rule of thumb is if the original device has FourSquare in the internal storage use the related .img on an SD card same goes for ASR SID etc.. An inspection of the device's garmindevice.xml maps out where everything is .
I would say there is enough members willing to help that they, including myself that have already tested the files they share on their own devices.I assume if there was repeated complaints the administrators would ban the member ?
My go to reply when asked for help is, What device & what maps are on it and what maps do you want
