Another question about naming POIs in Basecamp...cannot change name
Further to a post I created yesterday on how to rename multiple tracks in Basecamp, I am running into problems renaming existing tracks.
i first noticed issues when importing data from others and many of the 4 digit names had a space and then three number: "WPT1 001" Some even had "WPT1 001 001" or "WPT1 002". I tried using a text editor to find and replace those suffixes but it never turned out right; some would still show "001".
What I observed today was when I tried to rename said track, Basecamp stated: "invalid input please choose unique name". I even tried creating a fake track with the same name in Mapsource, copying it then pasting in a new Folder List in Basecamp and as soon as I did, it would automatically rename to "xxx 001"
I am stumped.
**UPDATE**
No longer stumped. I see that Basecamp will not let you use a name that belongs to another track or waypoint in another list. What I still find confusing is that the waypoints and tracks I have used are the same but I imported them from another file. For example, I have 26 tracks labeled A to Z. In another file I have say 13 tracks labeled A to M. When I import them, they are renamed A 001, B 001 etc. even though they are the same tracks.
On a different topic, what does it mean "Rename and remove unique content?". The Help button on basecamp is a dead link.
