Hello,
I'm running old Nuvi 765.
Please help me sorting out situation with multiple mapsets.
As my Europe map size has already outgrown original specifications of the device, it no longer fits in my internal memory and it resides on SDCARD:/gmapsup1.img.
Now according to this website there can be only one supplemental map on the SD card and it's named gmapsupp.
I cannot move anything to Flash memory, because it's too small.
It doesn't accept gmapprom.img on sdcard either.
Now I would like to install map of North America as secondary mapset. Am I out of luck?
According to mentioned website, there can be only one supplemental map, which is used by my europe.
Now I figured out by renaming files back and forth, that my device actually supports two supplemental maps.
gmapsup1.img and gmapsupp.img (So I named the NA map accordingly), and both maps loaded.
I also copied 3d map to sdcard, and since I already have 3d map for europe, I named it gmap3d1.img.
It loaded as well, but when configuring maps, it's merged with my Europe 3d map under single checkbox.
Is this correct behaviour, or is there something wrong?

Here's what I'd do in these circumstances.
1. Delete the device map from the device by going into MTP mode and getting rid of the gmapprom.img and the gmapsup1.img on the sd card.
2. Go into Garmin Express and update just the map, when it asks you if you want to put the rest of the map on an sd card, don't allow it too, just get a region of the continent on the device.
3. Now's the part where some magic can happen. If you already have your device patched this will work fine. Send me a pm of the remaining region of EU that you need and I can do that for you (whatever express did not put on the device). Once that's done, you can put as many maps as you want on your microSD. Additional images are named gmapsupp.img then gmapsup1.img then gmapsup2.img etc. and all it takes is a little renaming. Also there's no need to rename gmap3d since you can only have one on the device and one on the memory card maximum. See the tutorial section of this forum to get more information.
As for your situation with the microSD card problem that's on you. I reccomend at least 16GB as you can install almost the entire world maps on there if you wanted to.

In the coming two weeks, I am going to release a completely new index on this exact thread. I would much appreciate it however if the Garmin mod could remove the remaining stickies so that this index will be able to be seen more widely.
