Drivesmart 50LMT - does it run without a battery?
I thrifted a unit and the battery needs to be replaced but I was wondering if anyone has had success with just plugging it in and having it powered through the cable only (battery completely removed) I am worried about the heat in the car causing the battery to explode in the future if I do replace it. Thanks.

These units are known for poor battery life ,I replace them all the time. If you are concerned about cooking the unit while left in a parked car then unclip it and though it into the glove box, this also stops opportunists thieves costing a window & the unit.Unless you are a "New" member, having used the Thanks button regularly is the quickest way to get help.

I tried it without the battery and it surprisingly works but makes a single small clicking sound when it's plugged in. Perhaps it's some sort of short?
