Hi , Sorry about that I looked back at the posts and saw the tutorial link but I forgot to post back . I downloaded Nuvi 2xx7-2xx8 C4 (2077) fw8.80.rar. read the tutorial everything worked like a charm I now have the Europe map installed It was a beautiful day so I went out kayaking
I need to check if the Europe map is really working properly.
I did like I used to do with my nuvi 760, I put it on map and zoom out until i see the whole country then i slide over to Europe France and zoom in to a city to see if I see the street names and POIs. It doesn't work as well with the nuvi 2597 you have to be in 30 m mode only to be able to see street names and i don't see any POIs ???
Is there another way of doing this to confirm all is working properly ?? I'm going there for a month on the road and I'd hate to be in France looking for a super market or something else and it doesn't work

Please just read the Post above, Your nuvi 2597 was not designed to work with NT maps in Europe like your nuvi 760.
Download & install the correct unlocked maps & additional files as above
Use simulation mode to check your nuvi 2597 with the correct NTU map & additional files for Europe

Hi Garmin_Nuvi,
I was on a mini vacation :-) now back to my Garmin :-)
Oh Ok, I hadn't understood that the 2597 was not designed to work with NT maps in Europe like my nuvi 760.
and I also thought all maps were the same just subdivided ...
If I now understand you correctly If I get the correct NTU map like the one suggested :
Garmin City Navigator Europe NTU 2023.10 FID 9413 from atomantmk :
I will be able to get all my POIs and details for my trip to Europe.IF thats the case I'll be very happy :-)

Much appreciated ! The map works great and i see the street names in simulated views :-)
My last step is to add "Garmin Europe Travel Guide" from my old nuvi 760 IF hopefully possible Its in .gpi format : MPFullEurope.gpi
and also need to add radars which are also in .gpi format.
Is it still the same method as with my old nuvi 760 ? Stick it in a POI folder in the main Garmin folder on my sd card ? Will it be unlocked or do I need another unlock file ?
For the regular POis I presume I simply load them using the Garmin loader which puts a combined "Current.gpx" in the GPX folder ?

you can add to your POI folder just before you leave.
MPFullEurope.gpi is going to pretty out of date ,a lot has changed since 2008 ,but you would need to create another .unl file with Jetmouse for your nuvi 2597.

I had just tried transfering MPFullEurope.gpi and couldn't see it so i'll create .unl file
I know its old but landmarks part don't change so its a backup thing unless there is a newer MPFullEurope.gpi ??
