An otherwise healthy device with a software problem in region 14 will default to preboot without you holding the screen. Additionally, if your 2549 has a hardware problem such as chip failure it won't appear in Windows Device Manager because it's not actually in preboot. If it neither attains preboot nor reads an sd card it's not recoverable by software methods.
- Please remove any sd card from the 2547 and read the following carefully and then correct any misapprehensions i may have formed:
- The HWID of 2077 (C4 version) is assumed so if you haven't confirmed that definitively then do so now using G7ToWin.
- Check that the device appears in Device Manager and you hear the Windows device connection sound when connected (because if it doesn't it means no preboot mode). Do this without holding the screen: Open Control Panel then Device Manager. Connect the 2547 and watch to see that it appears in the list of devices as "Garmin USB GPS" under "GARMIN Devices". Observe it for 30 seconds or so without disturbing it. If it drops out of the list, and/or you hear the Windows device disconnection sound, time how long it takes to do so because that's the period of time it's actually in preboot. If it appears and stays in the list, and you're sure it has HWID 2077, then proceed as below.
Extract this to find 207701000880.rgn and Updater.exe then follow this:
- Don't hold the screen. If the 2547 is showing in Device Manager then it will also be recognized by Updater
- Follow the known procedure to start the flash
- If it gives any message other than one indicating successful update please take a screenshot and post it.

THANK YOU for loving you helping me! For once, I haven’t been able to fix it. I did everything according to your instructions. Thanks anyway.
when I turn on the device, a USB SOUND beep sounds, the device detects immediately!

The device ID shown does not exist, may be the details are completely corrupted by this person,
make a copy of your garmindevice.xml and put in my
Drop folder
Unless you are a "New" member, having used the Thanks button regularly is the quickest way to get help.
