Garmin Nuvi 285w White Screen
Hello friends. I have a problem with a Garmin nuvi 285w SWID 0827.
After flashing it with an erroneous firmware , using the updater.exe, the gps turns on only with the white screen. Storage media is not recognized, and does not enter pre boot mode.

This device did not need Patching to use Unlocked maps,so why are you flashing FW?.
You were lucky you didn't brick your Drive 40 you tried to patch using the wrong FW.
Garmin Cure3 (clue) will help you get it to be recognised by PC then you can use Updater with the original FW
nuvi 2x5W (GCD File) 006-B0827-00 Release 7.80
The white screen of death is well known........unfortunately
Try this to get your PC to see the device.

Hi , Drive 40 is another device, which I could already operate thanks to your help.
I'm not talking about the same GPS, this GPS is a Nuvi 285w, which after updating with Garmin Express was in a constant loop.
With the updater.exe I was able to solve the loop, but then I found that I did not recognize files loaded in internal memory, such as voices, maps, base maps, pois, etc.
That's why I tried with other firmwares, until one of those firmwares happened what I was commenting on, above
I'll try this and tell you
Tnks
Well, I tried the tutorial, but I can't access the preboot mode.
I think I have a brick without solution. I don't really know if there is another way to enter preboot mode. or if there is any other solutionLast edited by Garmin_Nuvi; 14th February 2020 at 04:35 AM.

You've only been trying a few minutes, this is not a quick fix for a novice ,some take hours !
Pre-Boot nuvì series 2x5 & 2x5W and nuvì 465:
1. Switch off the Navigator.
2. Press and hold the upper left corner of the screen.
3. Start the Navigator using the Power button.
You cannot use any other firmware than the original ,that's like putting petrol in a diesel vehicle !
