Which device do you recommend?
Hi All,
since my beloved TomTom XXL just died and I would like to give Garmin a try. I have used a mobileXT version long ago on my Symbian Nokia and now it is time for a Unit device.
The requirements:
- Screen size >=5
- Live features
- Connectivity
I have already chosen some candidates: DriveSmart 70 LMT-D, DriveSmart 51 LMT-D, 2597 LMT, 2595 LMT, 3589 LMT-D
Help would be appreciated as I am not limiting myself only to the above mentioned models. Just a bit of help if you find some time to comment.galleyrod Reviewed by galleyrod on . Why don’t you list Drivesmart 55 and 65 in candidate list?
These two are released a month ago. Someone already create review video on youtube, check it out.

I've got a "RV/Truckers" model with the perpetual update. It has a 5" screen and is a lot easier to navigate with than a cell phone.

After doing my research, I was able to find a Garmin DriveSmart 50 lmt-hd. Problem with the 51 series (and perhaps the 55) is that traffic is only through your phone and the implementation is reported as not great (being kind). If you are in the US, WAZE on your phone is a FAR better road navigation than any Garmin. The DriveSmart 50 lmt-hd has the traffic receiver built in so you don't even need a special power cable. The DriveSmart 70 LMT-HD would be a great choice if the size works for you. I use mine for travel around the world so the 5" works better for me.
