Garmin 64st Battery Compartment Sensor
Hi Guys
I just got a GPSMAP 64st, and the Garmin battery pack for it.
The plastic parts that hold the 2 AA batteries together to make a “pack” push down on some sensor under a piece of rubber inside the battery compartment
that other rechargeable batteries wouldn’t, because they wouldn’t have the middle plastic part.
Does anyone know what this sensor is? It seems the plastic would transfer heat hopelessly for a temperature sensor for charging.
Maybe it’s just a switch to tell it the pack is in there to change charging characteristics, but then why leave out plain rechargeable AA batteries?

No, it’s just a switch. Recharging a battery other than Garmin pack voids warranty,
but it can be done just by adding something that will push it down.
They have to be watching battery voltage for charging it.
