Rino 750 Maps
Has anyone had any luck with the Rino 750??
I'm having no luck whatsoever getting maps to work on my device - just purchased the unit and realised the basemap is terrible!
Have tried to install Australia Topo v5 to SD and all converts and transfer successfully through mapsource however, when I boot the device I get "Cannot authenticate maps. Contact the map content seller for help."
Looks like i'm up for another $200 for maps after paying $770 for the unit....outrageous! Had no issues with my older Rino in the past hence why I didn't hesitate to upgrade models!
Any help appreciated!barrz84 Reviewed by barrz84 on . Rino 750 Maps Has anyone had any luck with the Rino 750?? Perhaps you are trying to unlock the Topo with a JM unl code. Certainly you could with older Rino models which didn't have GMA protection. Rino 750 has GMA as well as a weak form of MSV (Map Signature Verification) however you can unlock .img files for it using latest gimunlock with map signature patch (search the forum for "gimunlock V0.04"). To use unicode maps (Topo Aust V5 isn't unicode afaik), you'd also need to patch the firmware.

Hi B1ng0,
Thanks for the prompt response! So I've tried to research the gimunlock method and I'm a bit stuck with how to go about that process?! I tried the alternative GarminUnlockerAlternativev8.0.1 as it was a basic process and I've managed to get them working however, they only load if I've just installed the battery again....if I power down and power up again it stalls on the Garmin boot up screen - any ideas?! I'm used to the old school methods didn't have to do any patching and so on so am a bit unschooled on it!
Thanks again making progress anyway!

I think Garmin Unlocker Alternative V8.0.1 [from 2014] uses an older version of gimunlock as it's unlock engine so although it would defeat the GMA protection it might not deal so well with the MSV. However certainly the latest version of gimunlock (v0.04) does work because a map signature patch was added in a version of V0.03 prior to release of V0.04. You can download the latest from in this forum, . Use is very simple, just drag your img file onto gimunlock.exe and wait for some seconds and it's unlocked. Post #19 has a nice visual guide for that:

Try unlocking it again with gimunlock V0.04 (keep a copy of your original .img) and if you still have the stalling problem post again with details of any message it shows on the boot screen.

I can't thank you enough B1ng0! I used gimgunlock 0.04 and success! I ended up downloading another copy of Topo as the one I had must've been corrupt as I still had the boot issue. Have powered on and off a dozen times now with no issues.
Thanks again for all the links and advice!
