In the imgpatcher software interface, there is a check box with "Adjust Firmware version by XX". By default it is unchecked. Should we leave this box unchecked and, if it must be checked, what number should be selected to the right when patching the GUPDATE.GCD file?
I googled the heck of this but could not find an answer to it.

@toox
Trekmap Italy v5 has a Code Page 65001 (the same of NTU Maps).
Many Devices need a Patched Firmware to read such a Map.
The only way to read such a Map without a Patch is to modify Code Page in 1252 (the same of NT Maps)

The CheckBox you mentioned is used to increase (by 1) the Firmware release, for example from 4.50 to 4.51.
This feature allows the flashing directly, as the device recognizes an higher version and go forward.

so my question is this
it's easy / possible to do ???
because it's not a joke, I have the Topo Trekmap Italy v5 Pro, but also the Topo Germany v8 Pro that work perfectly in my GPS without having patched it
and given the number of ads on ebay for these maps and the good opinion of buyers is that there is necessarily a solution to have all these maps without having to patch the gps

Does this mean that the check box should always be checked and the number always set to 1 every time we patch a new firmware release?

Hi Guys! Everything needs the right Tool
As I said TrekMap Italy v5, and Topo Germany v7/8 too, has a Code Page 65001 (Unicode). This not allow the Map to be recognized in recent Device
To change Code Page of Map in 1252 do as follows:
- Treat the original locked Unicode map via gimgunlock 0.04+MapSigPatch or later.
- Download and install ImgTool1.10.2 (attached at this Post)
- Open this unlocked map in the program ImgTool and then (in the "Code Page" section) select LBL subfiles and modify all LBLs to CP 1252.
- Load this modified map into the device, test the map, it should work but without unicode features.
If you are interested in Unicode features of the map, then perform the next item.
- Unload the modified map from Device and then load the source original locked map, now you can use the Original Locked map untill next device hard reset ...
After reset your map will be Locked again.
